For the third straight year, Sea Glass Wealth Advisory Group will be hosting its annual Walk for UBC Diabetes Research on Saturday at Deas Island Regional Park in Ladner.

In their first year as part of Harbourfront Wealth Management, Sea Glass will be representing themselves as Team Harbourfront.

Diabetes research is a cause that is near and dear to the hearts of the team with a number of family members having to manage life with Type 2 Diabetes.

Event organizer and Ladner resident Tracey Lundell’s daughter has had Type 1 Diabetes since she was seven-years-old.

Research to find a cure for diabetes has progressed over the past number of years, and much of that research is conducted at UBC Medical School, in Dr. Tim Kieffer's lab.

Sea Glass believes it’s important to target their fundraising efforts to researchers and this year’s funds will be sent directly to the UBC Medical School team that is working on cutting edge research to find a cure, as the university bears all the administration costs.

The 5km walk is slated to take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with staggered times due to COVID-19 social distancing.Walkers can register here.
