A single-vehicle crash earlier this month in East Delta has claimed a second life.

A 22-year-old Richmond woman was airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries after the April 6 crash on Highway 10 just east of the Highway 99 interchange. Delta police confirmed this week she succumbed to her injuries April 19.

The woman was a passenger in a truck driven by a 33-year-old Richmond man. They were travelling westbound in the 9600-block of Highway 10 around 9:30 a.m. when the vehicle veered left and went off the road into the ditch.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash had the stretch of Highway 10 closed to traffic for several hours as officers investigated.

The investigation is still ongoing, Delta police spokesperson A/Sgt. Sarah Swallow said this week, and no details are being released at this time.
