“The highest amounts are likely over Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley where the snow will persist the longest, until Tuesday night or Wednesday morning,” according to the statement.

The statement notes snowfall amounts will vary significantly across the region.

Mainroad, the company that looks after highway maintenance locally, also issued a statement.

“A weather event is anticipated to impact the Lower Mainland ahead of the Tuesday morning commute, approximately 5:00 am,” it says. “In anticipation Mainroad will be performing snow removal operations on all highways until the event passes, roadways are clear and back to normal.”
