The following are some of the calls Delta police responded to in the previous week:

Tsawwassen

May 25, 8:33 p.m., 4000-block of 11A Avenue: Complainant contacted police to report fraudulent activity on his business bank account. The victim was advised to change all passwords, and at the advice of the bank, is cancelling his accounts. The bank has its fraud department investigating the transaction.

May 26, 5:35 p.m., 1300-block of Morris Crescent: Residents contacted police to report that a detour due to a water main breakage had resulted in vehicles speeding through their area. Complainants were concerned about the safety of children playing in the area. Police attended and conducted patrols in the area, however, all vehicles that were observed were obeying the speed limit. Complainants were advised that police would continue enforcement in the area.

May 27, 7:32 p.m., 1700-block of 56th Street: Complainant contacted police regarding a group of teenagers who were drinking alcohol in a park. Police attended and spoke with approximately 10 teens who agreed to throw the bottles away and clean up. Police confirmed that none of the teens who were drinking were planning to drive as they had a designated driver.

May 30, 11:28 a.m., 1200-block of 56th Street: Complainant reported that he had lost his wallet the night before that contained approximately $200, his ID and credit cards. The credit cards were used in two “tap” transactions the following day. The complainant cancelled his cards.

May 30, 1:57 p.m., 1200-block of 56th Street: Complainant called police to report a possible impaired driver parked at a local liquor establishment. Police located the vehicle and when the vehicle went mobile, the officer conducted a traffic stop. Reasonable suspicion was formed, and the driver was required to provide a breath sample which resulted in a “FAIL.” The driver was issued a 90-day immediate roadside prohibition and his vehicle was towed. He left on foot.

May 31, 5:53 p.m., 500-block of Boundary Bay Road: Police attended Centennial Beach after receiving a report of a missing swimmer. Police officers and Delta firefighters attended and began searching for the swimmer. Police located him walking on the beach; he was safe, in no distress and informed police that he went for a longer swim without telling his girlfriend.

May 26,12 p.m., Highway 17 and Highway 99: While driving westbound, directly behind a motorcycle, police observed a vehicle approaching from behind at a high rate of speed. Rear radar on the police vehicle locked the speed at 140 km/h in an 80 km/h zone. The vehicle passed the police vehicle, and immediately had to change lanes. The motorcycle ahead had to brake hard to avoid a collision with the speeding vehicle. Police activated emergency equipment, and a traffic stop was conducted. The driver was issued an excessive speed violation ticket and his vehicle was towed.

May 25, 5:27 p.m., 4200-block of Arthur Drive: Police were called to a report that an unknown person had rummaged through their vehicles. The vehicles had been left unlocked. There was no damage and nothing was stolen.

May 25, 9:14 p.m., 4800-block of 53rd Street: Police were called to a report of a theft from vehicle. The vehicle was broken into, unknown how because vehicle was locked. Sunglasses, gift card and a cushion were stolen.

May 26, 11:30 a.m., 3000-block of 41B Street: Complainant reported observing a cube truck parked in her driveway that drove quickly away. Upon checking, she discovered that $140 in empty cans were missing.

May 27, 9:33 p.m., Linden Drive at Westminster Avenue: Police conducted a traffic stop with a vehicle that had disobeyed a stop sign and was speeding. There was a distinct odour of liquor from the driver’s mouth. A breath sample was taken which resulted in a “WARN.” The driver was issued a three-day immediate roadside prohibition and the vehicle was towed.

May 29, 9:33 p.m., 4500-block of 62nd Street: Complainant reported several vehicles doing donuts and burnouts. Police attended and located approximately 10 vehicles parked. One of the members of the group advised police that some friends were over for a birthday party. Police were unable to determine which vehicles were involved in the stunting, however the group in attendance was verbally cautioned regarding stunting.
