Even though its fundraising gala has been cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, community support for KidSport Delta continues to be strong.

KidSport Delta helps families in Delta that would otherwise not be able to enroll their children in organized sport. KidSport Delta can assist with up to $500 per calendar year.

Its annual gala, its biggest fundraiser of the year, was to have taken place at Tsawwassen Spring on April 25.

Carlene Lewall from KidSport Delta said with the cancelation of the gala they approached their sponsors and many are continuing to support and will do so as well next year when the gala will return.

“Our sponsors are amazing. These all have been huge supporters for the past four years,” she said. “Once this is over we know we will have more families who will be in need. We want people to know that this funding is available to you. Even though the gala is not happening, we are still going to be okay for this year thanks to our sponsors and other donations we are going to get. KidSport BC is there for us too.”

Sponsors who have remained committed to KidSport include: City of Delta, Century Group, Alive Publishing, BCLC, Rolfe Benson, Westcoast Seeds, Westshore Terminals, Vermuelen Group, VanCity, White Spot and CIBC.

KidSport Delta has also active a fundraising portal at: www.kidsportbc.org/2020GiftofSportfor others to provide donations and funding to the program.
