Suspect in Delta home invasion facing attempted murder charge

A man arrested at a North Delta home invasion last month is now facing six charges, including attempted murder, in relation to the incident.

A 37-year-old man is facing six charges stemming from a home invasion in North Delta last month.

A man arrested at a North Delta home invasion last month is now facing six charges, including attempted murder, in relation to the incident.

Delta police announced Friday that Blaine Robert Jackson, 37, of no fixed address, has been charged with the following:

– Using a fire arm, did attempt to commit murder

– Pointing a firearm without lawful excuse

– Possess a firearm without a licence

– Commit an assault causing bodily harm

– Break and enter a dwelling with intent to commit an indictable offence

– Possess a firearm for a purpose dangerous to the public peace.

On June 26 at approximately 9:40 a.m., Delta police responded to a report of a home invasion in progress in North Delta. Police were informed the suspect was armed with a firearm, and had allegedly assaulted a resident.

Police arrested one individual on scene, and located and secured a firearm believed to be involved in the incident. Prior to the arrival of the police, one of the occupants of the home received serious injuries and the suspect received minor injuries.

“We are pleased that this investigation was able to proceed quickly, as we know crimes of this nature are concerning to the community,” said S/Sgt. Dave Vaughan-Smith.

Vaughan-Smith said it’s believed the incident was targeted.

Jackson has been remanded in custody and will next appear in court on July 13.
