Tsawwassen Mills announced today that approximately 284,000 shoppers visited the new mall at the Tsawwassen First Nation over its first six days.

The 1.2-million-square-foot shopping centre, which opened with much fanfare on Wednesday, Oct. 5, said more than 201,000 shoppers visited in the first four days alone.

“Our grand opening exceeded our expectations. We’re thrilled that so many shoppers were excited by our unique mix of fashion, outlet and first-to-market shopping options,” said general manager Mark Fenwick. “Many of our retailers also exceeded their sales expectations.”

Although traffic concerns didn’t materialize on opening day, there were long lineups to get in and out of the mall last Saturday, prompting Delta police to direct traffic to ease the congestion.

“Thank you to our visitors for your patience and understanding during an extremely busy opening weekend,” said Fenwick. “With the holiday season just around the corner, we’re looking forward to seeing many of our guests return in the coming weeks to find that special gift or winter fashion.”

The mall features five distinct shopping neighbourhoods – Fashion, Outdoor Life, Coast Salish, City and Nature. Tsawwassen Mills features 180 brands, more than half of which are outlet stores, and includes 18 first-to-market retailers such as Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World, DSW–Designer Shoe Warehouse, Pro Hockey Life, Saks OFF 5TH, The Outlet by Harry Rosen, Michael Kors Outlet, lululemon athletica outlet, Browns Outlet and more.

The centre also features a 1,100-seat food hall, a children’s play area, sports dome and several stores offer unique entertainment options, including a skate park in West 49 and a themed bowling alley in Bass Pro Shops.
