Nancy Beveridge has turned a passion for her hometown into a worthwhile cause.
The 30-year-plus resident teamed up with a local graphic designer to come up with “Tsawwassen Swag,” a logo that is now available on a variety of merchandise with all proceeds donated to various local charities.
“I’m just doing this out of the goodness of my heart. My background is human resources and a big piece was employee engagement and retention, so I had a passion for creating a logo for Tsawwassen as there was nothing Tsawwassen centric by a local resident that I could find,” she explained. “It was about building a community within a community as there are so many pockets centered on where people live (like Beach Grove and Boundary Bay) but nothing for all of Tsawwassen. I wanted to come up with something that would resonate with people and highlight the important aspects of our community.”
It took a few months of exchanging ideas with graphic designer Rory Doyle before the logo’s final version was completed.
“The water, wildlife, definitely sunny Tsawwassen and a boat image because where is Tsawwassen? By the ferries,” laughed Beveridge.
So far she has donated sale proceeds toDelta Hospice, Delta Hospital Auxiliary, Deltassist, Delta Hospital and Community Health Foundation, Azure Place and the South Delta Food Bank.
Her “Tsawwassen Swag” merchandise includes trucker hats, decals, drink Koozies, tote bags, sweatshirts and hoodies.
