The KinVillage Association has confirmed two more COVID-19 cases.

News of the new positive cases was released on Saturday night through an update posted on its Facebook page as well in an update provided to the Optimist.

“Today, unfortunately two additional cases of COVID-19 were confirmed,” said KinVillage spokesperson Sue Satterthwaite. “Those affected have been notified, are receiving the care needed, and remain in isolation. As a precautionary measure, Fraser Health has directed that some residents and all staff members in South Court be swabbed and tested for COVID-19.”

A COVID-19 outbreak was declared on Sept. 3 at KinVillage South Court where one staff member tested positive. That person continues to self-isolate at home.

South Court is home to assisted living residents as well as some independent living residents.

“Since the outbreak was declared, we have been working closely with the Fraser Health enhanced outbreak team to identify anyone who may have been exposed and to take steps to protect the health of all residents and staff,” she said. “One important ongoing step is the close monitoring of all residents and staff in South Court for symptoms, followed by testing for anyone who develops symptoms.”

She said all restrictive measures for South Court remain in place, which includes restriction of activities and movement of residents within the building, as well as restricting entrance into the building.

All restrictive measures in place to control the outbreak apply to all residents of South Court, which includes 69 assisted living and 11 independent tenants.

“The health and safety of our residents and staff is our first priority and a responsibility we take very seriously,” she added. “We will provide further information as circumstances in South Court change.”

She said that the other residences (West Court/Care Home, North Court and Vidal Court) are not affected by the outbreak in South Court.
