Delta police would like to remind residents about the importance of not leaving valuables in their vehicles after a slew of theft from autos over the weekend.

Tsawwassen and Ladner residents reported a combined 12 theft from autos between Friday, Jan. 11 and Sunday, Jan. 12.

The reports to police included: theft of approximately $6,000 in tools, a bottle of tequila, passports, credit cards, a backpack filled with baby items, an empty backpack, and several reports that nothing was stolen, but that their vehicle had been rummaged through.

“We've said this many times - theft from auto is a crime of opportunity; thieves will see value in anything that is left in your vehicle,” said DPD on their Facebook page. “Thank you to the residents who contacted police to report that their car had been rummaged through - this helps our officers in their investigation.”

If you believe your car was rummaged through or broken into over the weekend, please report to police at 604-946-4411.
