Travel across the border has been a hot button topic since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic last March.

The border is now open for non-essential travel, but if you are Canadian crossing back into the Canada from the U.S. you still need a negative PCR test, which is costly.

When the border opened on Nov. 8, the Optimist polled 239 readers asking the question: Are you planning to head across the border anytime soon?

The poll ran from Nov. 8 to 11. Of the 239 votes, we can determine that 113 are from within the community. The full results are as follows:

YES 7.96 % local, 15.48 % total

NO 92.04 % local, 84.52 % total

Results are based on an online study of adult Delta Optimist readers that are located in Ladner. The margin of error - which measures sample variability - is +/- 6.31%, 19 times out of 20.

Delta Optimist uses a variety of techniques to capture data, detect and prevent fraudulent votes, detect and prevent robots, and filter out non-local and duplicate votes.
