Kristin Crouch will be speaking at the Northwest Flower and Garden Festival in February of 2019.

I am excited to announce that I will be speaking at the Northwest Flower and Garden Festival in February of 2019.

I love attending the garden festival to get inspired about new trends in gardening.

Okay, I will admit that I love to shop for new items for the garden, from plants to art, the garden festival has it all. The Northwest Flower and Garden Festival is open from Feb. 20 to 24,2019. I will be arriving on Wednesday so I am ready for my talk on vegetable growing the next day. I am also going to be on the do it yourself stage showing how to plant seeds on Friday.

Anyone can grow from seed but many people seem intimidated by the process. My talk will hopefully overcome any hurdles you may have. I grow all my annual plants from seed each year and have been doing so for many years. So why seeds? Seeds offer such an extensive selection compared to what’s in the garden centres. I have to admit that knowing I have nurtured  a plant from seed to flower is pretty thrilling.

I started growing vegetables when I started a community garden in our town in 2011. It wasn’t that I hadn’t grown vegetables before but I had taken a break to raise four children and that kept me pretty busy. I had to learn vegetable gardening all over again.

Community gardeners are often new to gardening so I wanted to be able to help. Over the years I have learned valuable tricks to save time, battle pests and be more sustainable in the vegetable garden. I will be sharing what I have learned during my talk at the garden festival. I am an organic gardener so I will teach you how to use integrated pest management techniques. I want to  help you get your garden in balance with nature. Every garden will have its good bugs and bad bugs as without one we won’t have the other.

So join me at the garden festival for some wonderful garden seminars, outstanding garden displays and shopping.

The Northwest Flower and Garden Festival runs from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. each day. Tickets are available now. With your ticket you have access to all the free seminars and displays at the show.
