Consensus on Southlands out of reach

I have just finished reading today's (Wednesday, Aug. 31) letters to the editor, and am struck by the relevance of some of the viewpoints expressed.

As for Ms. Clark, let's hope that the results of the HST vote will be an eyeopener. Or is there really any chance that this government will "walk the talk"?

As for Mr. Bolen's letter, what can I say that hasn't already been said? Perhaps nothing except what is wrong with Boundary Bay residents wishing to retain the wonderful, laid-back character of their neighbourhood including the attributes which Bolen so decries?

This community will never reach consensus on Southlands. Mayor and council must realize that regardless of what decision they make, they will be damned if they do and damned if they don't.

One answer is to put the Southlands question on the municipal election ballot as a referendum question, and let the voting majority decide.
