Could be too late to influence decision at ballot box in Nov

Victor Souliere correctly identifies a misleading aspect of the Century Group's Southlands brochure regarding the inevitable traffic impacts of development. Another misleading factor in this brochure is the amount of farmland to be left available. Subtracting the development area from the total area and implying that the remaining 430 acres is farmland ignores the three parks shown on the Century layout plan.

More importantly, Mr. Murphy's Aug 26th editorial risks misleading Tsawwassenites when it refers to the Southlands anti-development stance of election candidates Engelland and Bishop. The current council seems bent on accepting an application from Century Group with a first reading on Sept 12.

This leaves ample time for public hearings and a final approval by council before the November 19 election date. Tsawwassenites may act too late if they think that they can wait to influence this decision at the ballot box.
