In addition to the salaries quoted, there is somewhere between 22 and 24 per cent payroll expense such as medical/dental, EI, WorkSafe B.C., etc., plus car allowance and expenses.

Every time this comes up with this bunch it falls back on the nonsense of, "Well, we only have six councillors and other areas of a similar size have eight."

A client that we have worked with for a number of years is the City of Palm Springs. It operates with a mayor and four councillors. Its population is 15 per cent smaller but the land area, including wind farms, is almost the same.

Lo and behold, that city also owns and operates the airport and convention centre, it operates a weekly street fair plus a ton of special events during the year.

I agree with your final line: so much for leadership.
