Re: Seniors shouldn't pay as much as families, letter to the editor, Feb. 17

After reading Linda Frey's letter to the editor contending that seniors shouldn't pay as much as families for utilities, garbage pick up and other fees, I was left wondering: Was it always just the two of you in your household?

Did you ever have a young family? If so, you would know that most young families could not afford to pay more. I'm sure, many years ago, you had children and could not have paid more for these common fees.

We are all part of a community and, as such, we divide these fees evenly. Do you pay less taxes because you don't use the schools? In a time when our population is becoming increasingly elderly and we need to encourage families to have children to support this aging population, charging families more for basic fees is no way to go.
