IODE is a Canadian womens’ charitable organization, which was founded in 1900 by Margaret Polson Murray of Montreal. The Boundary Bay Chapter was formed in 2006 and is comprised of 18 ladies.

Our help can be monetary or service-based. Service activities in which we currently participate include running small monthly bingo games at the local seniors’ Abbeyfield Homes in Tsawwassen.

We also put on a strawberry tea for these seniors and have arranged for a Christmas sing-a-longs. We also help to prepare and serve food at several of the monthly community dinners held in Ladner.

Through several fundraising initiates, our chapter primarily supports organizations in the South Delta community. The local Stroke Recovery Group , the Food Bank and various programs at South Delta and Delta Secondary schools to name a few.

We also make book bags for three kindergarten classes at Hellings Elementary School in North Delta and annually purchase a library book which has been awarded the annual IODE Violet Downey Book Award for each elementary school in South Delta.

IODE Boundary Bay Chapter recently hosted another successful bridge and afternoon tea social event. We sold a total of 19 tables and would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who attended for their continued support in making this event a semi-annual fun social outing for bridge players at all levels.

Additionally, we contribute to provincial and national programs, which include scholarships and national disaster support. IODE is a registered charity. Anyone interested in making a donation or attending a monthly meeting can contact Diane at 604 948-3198.
