Letter: Too much over packaging and environmental degradation

I totally agree with the two letter writers talking about over packaging with plastics in the Aug. 11 edition of the Optimist.

I can’t believe how many decades it has taken me, even with members of my own family, to reduce reuse and recycle.

We in western societies are now paying for our many decades of ignoring the early warning signs of overuse, and how it leads to the degradation of our planet and beyond.

The pandemic gave us a chance to live a bit more simply…but have we really learned…yet?

Anyway, let’s all keep on making the effort.
