Letters: Choices come with consequences

I hope Mr. Frey reconsiders his decision so he can get back to the programs he’s missing.

Editor:

I too am an active senior who strives to maintain and improve my health.

For several years I have attended classes at the Ladner Leisure Centre, in step aerobics, muscle max, spin and yoga. I was sad to see the cancellation of our classes during COVID, but certainly understood that it was necessary to do so.

Our classes have once again resumed and are open to anyone who shows proof of COVID vaccination. It’s wonderful to be back in an active, supportive and safe environment. I think the Parks and Recreation department of Delta has done a great job of reopening. My thanks goes out to the planners, staff and instructors.

Mr. Frey laments in his letter to the editor (Optimist, Sept. 16) that he is unable to participate in his fitness classes due to his personal decision to refuse the vaccination.

All choices we make come with consequences. My choice to vaccinate allows me to resume my fitness activities. His choice stops him from doing so for his safety and the safety of those around him. I am thankful that these regulations are in place.

I hope Mr. Frey reconsiders his decision so he can get back to the programs he’s missing.
