Letters: How many more lives will be lost because of hate?

It is time that faith leaders as well as other political leaders should stand with solidarity and condemn all sorts of hate crimes to establish true justice, mutual respect, and tolerance so that peace is established in the world.

How many more lives will be killed because of their faith and appearance?

We have seen many hate crimes in the past. We’ve seen stabbings and shootings. We’ve seen mosques being raided. Recently, we saw an innocent Muslim family in Ontario lose their lives, leaving an orphaned child behind.

Repeatedly these incidents are happening. It raises the question: why are Muslims targeted?

The world demands justice for these innocent victims. It’s a terrifying act that has shocked communities across Canada. We were still healing from the London attack when another shocking news was heard from Edmonton’s Mosque Bait-ul-Hadi. A symbol of hate was plastered on its walls as an act of hatred against Islam.

It’s very much true that Islamophobia exists in Canada.

In the past, our community, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community has held many worldwide peace and interfaith conferences across Canada. We constantly get guidance from our Spiritual Leader His Holiness Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, on how we can establish peace in the world.

In these peace conferences, His holiness also presents a Peace Award to those who have promoted peace in society.

It is time that faith leaders as well as other political leaders should stand with solidarity and condemn all sorts of hate crimes to establish true justice, mutual respect, and tolerance so that peace is established in the world.
