Letters: Impressed with response from Delta parks and rec

Parks and rec letter
This letter writer recounts a positive experience with Delta Parks and Rec after pointing out an issue with signage location at Tsawwassen's Diefenbaker Park.

Editor:

Our family kids and granddaughters are regular users of the Tsawwassen Diefenbaker Park. The water park is a great feature enjoyed by a huge age range of children.

I called the Delta parks and rec department to report what I thought was a safety issue related to the signage around the outside of the concrete circle that encloses the water park. The signs are great and really informative, but their placement in my view has or at least did have the potential for the kids to run into them from the side. The users are toddlers to pre-teens and they are running freely. They are virtually invisible from the side when you’re an excited youngster. Even us older users don’t always see them.

I spoke to a very engaged lady employee who took my report and concern seriously.

We returned to the park some weeks later and to my amazement the signs has been moved to the edge, again in my view, a much safer position. I’m impressed - many thanks.

We enjoyed the park again this morning and again commented on the call and the action taken. I should have written earlier as your action was swift whereas my thanks is tardy at best.

Very impressed. I’m a fan.
