I am writing this letter in the hopes to have a discussion about reclaiming the Canadian flag, so everyone may display the red and white this Canada day with no hesitancy.
Prior to the pandemic, the display of our national flag was not associated with any political movements or interest groups, it was just about Canada.
I feel over the last two years, our national symbol of pride has been hijacked for political reasons. These groups have every right to peacefully protest, they are well within their rights as Canadians and that’s why I love our country. My focus is on how do we as a society reclaim our national flag for everyone?
I feel that we all as a society need to display our Canadian flag with pride this upcoming Canada Day. As a patriotic Canadian, I would like to start a movement that we all can get behind which is displaying our national colors with celebration this July 1, so that we can all move forward together as Canadians.
