Letters: More affordable options needed

It is the time the city stopped listening to the naysayers and started directing developers to build housing that people can actually afford
city of delta, bc housing incentives

Editor:

I am completely in agreement with Ms. Abbott about the poor choices being made for new housing in South Delta (Community Comment, Optimist, Nov. 11).

I just witnessed another two monster houses go up on Central Ave. to replace one small house. These houses are completely out of scale with the surrounding neighbourhood. Given the city apparently doesn’t care about scale, why do they keep approving monstrous, unaffordable houses when the same lot could accommodate an affordable duplex or row housing? Unless you are a family of 10 you don’t need these enormous houses.

I brought my two boys up in a 1,500 sq. foot duplex. We were perfectly comfortable.
