Re: Glad we still have the tunnel (letters, Optimist, Dec. 29).
In reference to this recent letter, here is another option: build the 10-lane bridge that has already been approved and ready to go, that was only going to cost $2.8 billion.
Keep the old tunnel one side for pedestrians and cyclists and the other side for busses and emergency vehicles. Then we have five regular lanes each direction on the bridge, not three lanes in rush hour like we have now and with the NDP’s new eight-lane tunnel they have proposed, which will never be approved five to 10 years from now.
How many billions will it cost by then?
