Letters: New resident likes housing proposal

I thought I would weigh in and say that I wholeheartedly support a development that will consider the heritage style in its architectural design and not the more modern box style of town homes that you see throughout Vancouver.

This letter is in regards to the article about the townhouse residential development at 4829-48th Ave.

Editor:

I have just recently subscribed to the Delta Optimist as we are soon to be residents of the wonderful little town of Ladner and I want to be aware of what is going on locally.

In regards to the article about the townhouse residential development at 4829-48th Ave. I thought I would weigh in and say that I wholeheartedly support a development that will consider the heritage style in its architectural design and not the more modern box style of town homes that you see throughout Vancouver.

One of the reasons we were drawn to live in Ladner, is not only the fabulous many bike/walking trails, the river, farms etc. but we love the small heritage village of Ladner.

We are pleased to see that so far, the City of Delta seems to want to keep the heritage look of the village.

The village is the soul and hub of the area. As many small towns have been ruined with no consideration at all of the value of its historical buildings and instead have been built nothing but strip malls, I do hope that Delta’s city planner will always consider keeping the old buildings and building more in the historic style when improving and expanding the Ladner Village as Fort Langley has done.
