Letters: Potters Association say thanks

Judging by the smiles on everyone’s face, and the constant hum of excited conversation as old friends and potters reunited, everyone enjoyed it as much as we did!
Potters anniversary 1
The Delta Potters Association celebrated its 50th anniversary on Saturday, Aug. 13 at its studio in the South Delta Recreation Centre. There were pottery displays, presentations on the club history and demonstrations. Pictured left to right are executive members Pat Longworth, Linda O'Reilly, Susan Hunt, and Carol Clancey.

Editor:

On Saturday, Aug. 13, the Delta Potters Association (DPA) hosted a 50th anniversary celebration. We invited the people of Delta to help us celebrate. What a wonderful event we had!

Thank you to Optimist photographer Jim Kinnear who took some great shots.

In my speech at the event, I mentioned that DPA has had a great association from the beginning with the Optimist, in fact the first archival piece in our history presentation is a clipping from an edition of the Optimist in April 1972, saying where citizens interested in pottery could meet. This was the very first meeting of our Delta Pottery Club.

Thanks to Delta Coun. Dylan Kruger for attending on behalf of Mayor George Harvie. It was gratifying to hear in his speech that the City of Delta is committed to increasing opportunities for artistic and cultural endeavours in our community.

A giant thank-you to all who attended, our members, past members, including our third president from 1979, and of course to you, our Delta community, who attend our sales and encourage us with your enthusiasm.

Judging by the smiles on everyone’s face, and the constant hum of excited conversation as old friends and potters reunited, everyone enjoyed it as much as we did!
