I remember in 1963 I was in Grade 8. When President Kennedy was shot there was an announcement over the PA to the whole school.
My grandson attends Ladner Elementary school. When I saw him on Thursday evening (Sept. 8) I mentioned to him about the passing of our beloved Queen Elizabeth.
He was shocked.
I said, “You didn’t know?”
I then asked him if there had been an announcement to the whole school and he replied in the negative.
She was our Head of State! If nothing else she is on our money which most children have seen and yet nothing was mentioned or explained about the monarchy?
I find this truly appalling.
