Letters: This is not democracy

The inability of all levels of government and police forces to uphold the legislated measures of law and order is terribly disturbing

A Canadian flag waves in the wind outside Parliament in Ottawa.

Editor:

Where have all the flowers gone?

Driven over, I guess.

It used to be that those in charge had won the most votes (democracy). Now it's those with the biggest trucks (anarchy). This assault on the health and well-being of thousands of their fellow Canadians is unconscionable.

The serious poisoning of the air in Ottawa has put all those with respiratory vulnerabilities, children, seniors, and others breathing this toxic engine exhaust, at serious risk. Add the damaging impact of illegal levels of noise, the forced closure of transit services and vital retail suppliers, and the cumulative effect is beyond the pale!

Further, the blockage of essential supply lines at several other locations has put thousands out of work and seriously depressed the national economy. All according to plan, I suppose. The inability of all levels of government and police forces to uphold the legislated measures of law and order is terribly disturbing! The decades’ long enviable positive reputation of Canada - world wide – as a strong, considerate and responsible society has been transformed into just the opposite! “Short time passing!”
