Letters: Winskill…what a missed opportunity

What a missed opportunity to achieve something special in this southern portion of the park

A master gardener will plan their garden to achieve vibrancy throughout the year, regardless of the season.

Intelligent urban design follows the same principle, not just as it relates to landscape, but also to amenities that attract people and bring enjoyment to many types of users, no matter the season.

How is it that the entire southern part of Tsawwassen’s largest park has been designed for a single seasonal sport? Am I missing something, or will this space sit dead and unused and not enjoyed by the community for much of the year…year after year?

Yes, baseball is important to the community and no doubt should be part of the new Winskill. But also important to the community, and perhaps enjoyed by a greater number of people, is a stroll in the park, walking the dog, children playing in a playground, picnicking, or simply sitting on a bench and enjoying one’s natural surroundings with green space.

I’m sad…

What a missed opportunity to achieve something special in this southern portion of the park, that could have otherwise been remarkable and enjoyed by many different users throughout the year – including baseball - just not exclusive to baseball.
