Boycott Tsawwassen gas gougers

Everyone knows the value of oil is in the toilet these days. Heck, a few weeks ago, Canadian crude was in negative territory and they couldn’t give it away. In a convoluted way, along with other obvious factors, we’ve seen a nice drop in the price of gas.

But once again, in good old T-Town, that price has started to creep back up recently to $1.11 per litre. Much to my surprise on a trip into Vancouver on Monday (first time through the George Massey Tunnel in two months) all the gas stations on Oak Street were selling at $.969 per litre.

As we drove home (with a no pause at the tunnel at 4:30 p.m. -- that’s a first in 28 years of Tsawwassen living) I decided to swing through Ladner and check the price of gas there. Guess what? It was also $.969 per litre.

What is it with these major corporations that feel they can continually stiff people in Tsawwassen with higher gas prices compared to our neighbouring communities? They are arrogant and self-serving (no pun intended), with no apparent concern for the local community, many of whom are currently going through tough financial times.

We need to boycott gas purchases in Tsawwassen until we get a level playing field with other Lower Mainland jurisdictions.
