Re: Single-vehicle crash on Hwy. 17 claims life of 50-year-old man, Sept. 27

The only highway to and from the ferries and out of Tsawwassen and Point Roberts was closed for four hours in both directions on the evening of Thursday, Sept. 20 for an accident that was on the median divider.

Why? Why was the highway closed for four hours?

You can take 100 pictures in 10 minutes and you can measure everything – everything – within 30 minutes.

Who is in charge of this incompetence?

These anonymous persons should have to show proof there was a good reason why these closures are always happening and be accountable for them.

I have been on the highway when there was one of these events and the officers were standing around talking to each other with police vehicles blocking nothing – no vehicles, debris or activity.

Delta police public affairs coordinator Cris Leykauf can thank us all she likes, but it does not dispel the anger, anxiety attacks, elevated blood pressure, accident-inducing congestion and stress it puts on drivers trying to get to and from ferries, appointments, airports, schools, work and home for dinner.

Four hours is a crime.

I will vote for the first person who will take on this serious public imposition and do something about it.
