On Oct. 22 at the Monday drop-in hockey at the South Delta Recreation Centre a player suddenly collapsed on the ice surface. Quickly one of the players notified the staff and took the defibrillator from the wall.

In minutes the player went into cardiac arrest. The defibrillator was then employed and this saved his life. Soon the paramedics arrived to take over with their expertise.

The staff should be commended for their quick and calm response. We can all appreciate their first aid training and their ability to implement this training in a real life situation. They should be commended for their action.

To the staff of South Delta Recreation Centre, a job well done.

Yes, the player is doing well and is recovering at home.
