Four Winds proposal rejected, April 11
I am writing in praise of Delta council and in particular those who saw the multiple problems with the application for the Southlands Village. The mayor’s words as reported in the Optimist captured the essence of what was wrong with this proposed amendment and its questionable birth in the first place.
There must be better vetting of these types of proposals. I was surprised (appalled, actually) that city staff could somehow conclude the proposal was consistent with the original vision for the Southlands.
To the mayor and councillors who voted this amendment down, you have my votes. For those who went with the amendment despite concerns, I can only hope you take more care in judging future projects.
