What do you fear?
Last week the rainbow flag at Ladner United Church was sprayed with black paint. I guess someone felt so much fear around what the flag represents that they lashed out. I am sorry for their fear. I wish for no one to live in fear.
Fear begets fear and no one wins.
Last week we also remembered the 75th anniversary of D-Day and the soldiers who fought and died so that all can live without fear.
How can we honour their sacrifice? Maybe we can provide safe places for conversation, to talk about fears, to get to know each other and realize that we are all muddling through day by day the best we can.
Thank you to the City of Delta, Delta police and the Delta School District for raising the rainbow flag as a symbol of intent to provide a safe community. Thank you to the churches who showed a rainbow flag. Let's all show our true colours. Our silence speaks loudly.
