I had the pleasure of cycling on Aug. 31 and encountered several groups of cyclists.

The first was at the light at the corner of 18th Ave./56th St. in Tsawwassen where there is a bike button to activate the traffic light to cross 56th St. towards the South Delta Rec. Centre. This group is not in my personal COVID-19 bubble, yet they seemed to think it was okay to pull up right beside me and comment that “oh, we've added another bike.”

The second was a group on the Boundary Bay dike trail between 64th Ave. and 72nd Ave. There were roughly 10 to 12 cyclists in this group and while they were polite, they made no real effort to organize themselves into single file so we could pass each other at an appropriately social distance. All this on a day when there is a weekend three-day total of 294 new COVID-19 cases.

It is frustrating for me to do my best to stay out of the personal bubble of others, but not have others respect mine. I love to be out on the dike, but wish everyone out there would do their part in keeping everyone safe during this difficult time.
