The government is using the COVID-19 emergency to push the TransMountain Pipeline. Oil sales to Asia have no future since the Chinese are drilling like crazy for offshore wells now and finding their own oil. Iran and Saudi Arabia, as well as Russia, are selling them lots of oil, too.
Please do not burden taxpayers with a pipeline that has environmental risks on land and especially in the Salish Sea as these enormous tanker ships weave through the Gulf Islands just south of Vancouver where risks of oil spills would be disastrous with this heavy stew of tar sand oil and diluent.
In the end? No there is no market for heavy tar sand oil as more wells come on line all over the planet and we are supposedly transitioning to non-oil energies as we claim to be battling climate change.
