Food trucks killing Ladner’s service clubs

As a Ladner service club member, these are my personal views with regards to the increasing number of food trucks at local community events. This is a bad and good thing, but please recognize they are killing the service clubs.

These clubs have worked hard with volunteers to cook for these events. The money raised stays in the community, helping those that need help that our great social system has failed to provide.

The food trucks take the profits and leave Ladner.

The Ladner Legion Ladies Auxiliary won’t be back at Ladner Pioneer May Days with their beef on a bun, while the Lions will have to take a serious look at their Sunday breakfast in 2020 due to the poor returns this year. If it wasn’t for the very kind contribution of coffee and juice from Ladner McDonald’s, the Lions would have suffered a loss despite all the volunteer work done.

These are just two clubs out of many who are involved in the community of Ladner.
