Individuals and institutions must change their racist ways

Social media is an effective and powerful outlet in spreading awareness of injustices and in advancing the aim that actions be taken to rightfully serve justice.

At the same time that we acknowledge that it is immensely important to hold specific individuals accountable for their inimical and overtly racist actions, it is also necessary to point out destructively powerful institutions and rooted discriminatory societal norms that allow racist attitudes to triumph, whether it be state officials that allow certain officers of the law to maintain their influential positions despite their prejudiced and racist behaviour towards specific races, or turning a blind eye to the injustices that are transpiring under their guard.

Both individuals and institutions must be held liable.

No human being is born a racist, racism is acquired through society and one’s upbringing and interactions. The forthcoming changes we are advocating for must be directed at individuals and institutions.
