Thanks go to the wizard behind Ladner's Spirit Trails and the officials who have now cleared access to them.
The trails ramble through a forest of the black cottonwood, north and west of Ferry Road.
Last winter's storms blew down clusters of the great trees across both main entries to the area. For several months I had to climb over metre-plus tree trunks.
Now the trail is easy, but walking or running shoes are recommended.
The carvings add a fine coastal B.C. touch to the experience.
