Press’ innocent pawn is anything but

I find it hard to stomach Canada's biased press on so many issues I can't list them; however, I will not ignore our press's nationalistic characterization of Abbotsford's Robert Lloyd Schellenberg as an innocent pawn in the diplomatic dust-up between Canada and China over the arrest of a Chinese billionaire in Vancouver.

Is Schellenberg a pawn? Canada's press would have us think so, which causes me to ask: Does Justin Trudeau tell our reporters what to publicize? I read, heard and viewed a lot of news reports before one informed that Schellenberg had served drug time in Canada before going to China, which means that our very own justice system, which we laud with noses raised, found him guilty and convicted him twice to serve one- and two-year sentences, which amounts to mollycoddling in countries that are serious about fighting drugs.

So, I ask, how can our press describe the Chinese justice system as corrupt and declare it a puppet of Chinese politicians when our own press, as well as Trudeau and ilk, is so reluctant to reveal that Schellenberg was no angel before he went to China?

When in China, do as the Chinese do.
