Re: South Delta Crime Beat, Feb. 21

The story behind the story is no doubt priceless. Person has a rental vehicle. On Feb. 3 it is "rummaged through," but not until 11 days later does car renter finally notice that his golf clubs worth $1,500 have been boosted. Only when he opened his trunk to put in the snow shovel he lovingly bought his wife as a Valentine's Day present, one wonders?

Perhaps one of the best Crime Beat short stories ever: "Reward offered. February's famous sun-&-warmth stolen. Just pangs of dim memory. Also missing, $1,500 of frozen Pings. Reward: one used snow shovel."
