When I voted for the new guy I expected learning stumbles and mistakes but welcomed what seemed to be fresh air. Now we see unexpected and unwelcome behaviour getting repeated. Does Justin Trudeau have a small vindictive mind with serious blind spots?

It could be the response to the SNC-Lavalin challenge meets a legal bound. But the response to Jody Wilson-Raybould and Jane Philpott does not meet expectations. Rule of law is not the end. Canadians expect morals, ethics and fairness to matter. Basic right and wrong are standards well above any rule of law.

Treatment of Vice-Admiral Mark Norman may not be illegal. It does seem dumb, vindictive and unfair. Withholding, delaying and redacting documents in a suspicious manner does not measure up.

Trudeau seems unfamiliar with or unconcerned about fundamental legal concepts. Independence of prosecutors and timely disclosure of evidence are core to legal fairness. He seems unable to grasp his behaviour offends many fair-minded Canadians.
