The world pandemic was a sight to be seen

With many so isolated and others quarantined

COVID-19 took the world by surprise

Infecting millions worldwide and taking many, many lives

Hearts ached for the elderly, who were scared and all alone

As care homes couldn’t have visitors, and families couldn’t bring them home

The present felt surreal with a future so unknown

The world had changed in every way, but we weren’t in this alone

Though all was in an uproar and life had changed in such a way

The people still came together to spread a message every day

Of hope, caring and kindness, to lending a helping hand

With music filled streets and clapping echoing through the land

For our healthcare workers were our heroes

Frontline workers served us through our woes

Even though many lost their jobs

And businesses had to close

Masks became a requirement

And sanitizers too

Tuning in to Bonnie Henry

So you knew just what to do

The message came out daily

Be safe, be calm and be kind

As anger and frustration

Played havoc on our minds

So hearts appeared in windows

And painted rocks along the streets

Notes of thanks and caring messages

Expressed on Facebook and through tweets

Vaccines were in the making

Through the nation near and far

To come up with an antidote

To fight this deadly war

While families and friends came together

In a bubble of merely six

They felt truly blessed through the uncertainty

Until there was a fix

Life carried on

But in a much different way

As we all endured the reality

Of this pandemic every day.
