How ironic is it that while a businessman foisting another controversial development plan on the people of Tsawwassen cries for public input, the mayor, elected by the people to serve the people of South Delta, continues to close the door on her constituents with her backroom antics.

Just last week, Mayor Lois Jackson weighed in on the Southlands project, but this time with an overt attempt to muzzle public debate on its merits for Tsawwassen.

Under the guise of an election campaign, she states that incumbent electoral candidates should refrain from expressing their opinion on the most recent Southlands proposal for fear of jeopardizing the development approval process at municipal hall. What a crock!

This is the election issue for many people in Tsawwassen and we have the right to know where the candidates running for election stand on this important subject for the community. We don't want another "HST deception" foisted on us after the election.

No need for further public hearings or unofficial plebiscites, let's just vote on it in November.
