Minister’s Minute: Ordinary for a reason

Many of us live with an anxious, pressured sense that we need to be extraordinary. Synonyms for extraordinary: remarkable, spectacular, exceptional, astounding, sensational, unbelievable. Our hearts crave this.

Many of us live with an anxious, pressured sense that we need to be extraordinary. Synonyms for extraordinary: remarkable, spectacular, exceptional, astounding, sensational, unbelievable. Our hearts crave this.

But don't allow this lie to mislead you. It's a trap, a dead end.

Our pursuit of becoming extraordinary actually prevents us from experiencing the extraordinary. The pursuit leaves us exhausted, empty and incapable of enjoying the extraordinariness we are supposed to enjoy.  As a human your mission is to be an ordinary person ... who has a relationship with an extraordinary God.

Your role in life is to be human, God’s role is to be God. Your life is designed for the extraordinary, but the character who brings the stunning, incredible, unbelievable, phenomenal to the script is God, not you.

Psalms 8:3-6: “When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, The moon and the stars, which You have ordained, What is man that You are mindful of him…? For You have made him a little lower than the angels, And You have crowned him with glory and honor. You have made him to have dominion over the works of Your hands; You have put all things under his feet.”

Stop switching roles. Quit trying to play a role in life that you were not designed to play. Be the unique human God formed you to be. In relationship with Him, our extraordinary God will dazzle you with his extraordinary ways, and your life becomes extraordinary because of Him. Today, look to God, trust God and believe God to show himself extraordinary. Your life will change.
