Respect, don't destroy, the local wildlife

I have lived in Tsawwassen for the past 20 years and I love the Delta area. It is especially beautiful right now with the birds amongst us in Boundary Bay, in particular, the snowy owls.

My cousin is visiting from Perth, Australia and I took her out today to see this incredible attraction. We walked along the dike, and saw several of them dotted along the shore. We were lucky enough to catch a glimpse through a telescope to view one close up, thanks to a kind gentleman along the way. What a sight. We were awestruck by their presence and beauty.

Shortly thereafter, gunshots were heard in the distance. I could not believe my ears, could it be? No, surely not. But yes, as we headed back to my vehicle, there were two men decked out in their ridiculous 'camo' gear, with four lifeless ducks in tow.

How incredibly sad. What an oxymoron. Time to grow up, boys, and respect the wildlife that surrounds us, not destroy it.
