Sharing Southard's concern for TFN project

I was sorry to see that Dan Southard is putting down his pen as a columnist for the Optimist.

I enjoyed his columns even though I very often disagreed with what he had to say (ironically, I was with him on pretty much everything in his last column).

In fact, I found the Feb. 1 issue a particularly good one overall, contributed to by the letters from Debbie McBride and Dave Staniforth.

As for the issue of the Tsawwassen First Nation shopping malls, my initial concern for Ladner's shopping areas is starting to be overshadowed by concern for the Tsawwassen First Nation .

I, like Southard, see a great possibility for failure with the malls.

I certainly want to see a successful and positive economic future for First Nations (part of my own ancestry), but I'm afraid this project is not the way to go in this case.
