Sorry, Jean Wightman, but you miss the point.
We know the HST can't be reduced to 10 per cent immediately without paying back $1.6 billion to the federal government.
The compromise was to reduce it as soon as allowed.
If you feel you are paying too much tax in the meantime, take comfort in knowing half of the "too much" is going to pay for health care and education. The alternative is worse.
