Editor: As regular readers of the Delta Optimist, my family would like to express our displeasure with your choice in Halloween cover photo. Although we are ardent Halloween fanatics and participants, in our opinion the picture is not appropriate.

Editor: As I sit in the bumper-tobumper, stop-and-go traffic every morning on Highway 17A, I ponder a few questions that come to mind. I have a half-hour, after all, to do this pondering before I reach the tunnel.

Editor: I've been reading about Dr. Robert Shaw's concerns about surgeries being handled at Delta Hospital and wanted to add my concerns as I had an experience there this past May.

Editor: Racism is alive and well in Tsawwassen. Recently I was waiting at the light on Highway 17 to turn into our wonderful town. Beside me, on their way to the ferries, were two bikers in full regalia.

Editor: Re: Premier at groundbreaking for Tilbury LNG plant expansion, Oct. 22 As noted in your article, the premier puts forth a big smile, brave face and grandiose claims as she celebrates the expansion of a liquid natural gas plant in Tilbury.

I have long believed the fall semester to be the best season of the year. In earlier years the farming community's work was complete and the spoils of the endeavour enjoyed.

Editor: Re: MK Delta proposal divides candidates, Oct. 24 I just read that Delta council candidate Heather King is looking to do a land swap with a developer should she be elected on Nov. 15.

I'll buy the suggestion they're all free thinkers, but I'm less inclined to bite on the notion of their so-called independence.

Editor: Delta Stroke Recovery members attended a performance of The Secret Mask at the Tsawwassen Arts Centre last Friday.

Last weekend as my parents were testing their blood glucose, I informed them that my next column will be on diabetes, since November was Diabetes Awareness Month.
