Editor: Re: No reason bikes should get a free ride, letter to the editor, Aug. 2 I thought I had heard it all when a complaint about air traffic noise took whininess to a whole new realm, but sadly, the outrageous letter from R.D.

Editor: It won't be another record-setting Spetifore (Southlands)-style public hearing. Speakers then had no time limit, and signed up to speak again. The objective seemed not informed decision, but unconditional surrender.

It's truly a shame that civic politicians appear to have closed the door on the idea of acquiring the other half of Paterson Park. Much has been made lately of preserving our past.

The latest Southlands proposal presented by the Century Group was impressive.

The mountain of correspondence continues to grow at municipal hall - 1,924 at last count - but I have to wonder whether this effort will have much bearing on the eventual decision on Century Group's Southlands proposal.

I find it interesting during election coverage that television networks can project the winner with so little of the vote being counted. Most of the time, they are pretty accurate.

Watching with great interest the considerable road work presently taking place in Ladner, I was disappointed to see traffic lights remain at the major intersection of Arthur Drive and Ladner Trunk Road.

Editor: Growing up in Vancouver in the 1940s and '50s, and raising four children in the '60s and '70s, bicycle licences were required and, like cars, had to be renewed each year.
